Let’s explore these questions👇 Market cap, or 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, refers to the total value of all the bitcoin that have been mined or issued. It's calculated by multiplying the 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 of a single coin (currently about $51.5K) by the 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 of coins in circulation (currently about 19.6M). For Bitcoin, market cap underscores its dominance and security as the leading cryptocurrency. A higher market cap not only reflects 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆, but also implies 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, making it more resistant to attacks and more trusted by users and investors. And if you’ve come across the term “𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯”, then you may be even more confused. Let’s sort this out👇 The prevalent term for Bitcoin’s distributed ledger is “𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯”, yet the original name that Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, gave it was “𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯”.
