I'm convinced they're doing this so they can have an excuse to only run App Store apps on a MacBook, and start closing down the last part of their lineup where they don't completely own the software install pipeline

I know this isn't the point of Paul's post, but I hope some people learn that quote dunking and dogpiling on people is a terrible habit.
Treat people the way you want to be treated instead of chasing rage-based dopamine. This is grade-two-level kindness, and it's not that difficult.
