After a rigorous review & application process, our selection committee has chosen @ Bitcoin Chama with an award of 1,000,000 sats
Bitcoin Chama is a rural-based Bitcoin community dedicated to building a self-reliant Bitcoin ecosystem in rural Kenya by empowering youths through different projects. Bitcoin Chama consists of chamas (clans) that collectively own and operate the projects.
They are bringing bitcoin payments to their community using feature phones thanks to Machankura wallet. This allows any member of the community, regardless of literacy or tech-savviness, to send, receive, and save Bitcoin without an internet connection
TPB grant funding is helping support @ Bitcoin Chama in the following ways:
• Expand agricultural production
• Onboard new local merchants
• Run hands-on Bitcoin education days
• Document a model others can replicate
