Actually, I bet if everyone did refuse, and let their account dormant for a couple of weeks, you would suddenly see American Big Tech transforming into the fiercest defender of your privacy rights, using their powerful network of lobbyists to fight these invasive government regulations.
They need you more than you need them.
Force them to work for your rights.
Do not comply.

Regulations and regulators need to make fines an actual deterrent.
When billionaires can't make enough money from consumers anymore, they go for government contracts.
This is how they continue to get even richer on your money, but without your consent.
Tell your government loudly that you want none of this.
You might think it's not a priority with all the doom happening around.
But the erosion of privacy rights is directly linked to the erosion of human rights, and the loss of democracy.
Privacy makes it safe for you to discuss, to organize, to resist, and to be your true self. This is exactly why fascists and authoritarians are attacking it.
If we lose privacy, we lose everything else. We have to defend it with all we've got.
