Does anyone have *any* of those. online "learn programming" type things they like and would actually recommend? I've not been a professional software developer for well over a decade, and the last code I wrote other than my own personal stuff was mostly just fixing up other people's HTML/CSS/JS, not starting from scratch. Hoping for something that doesn't shove AI slop at me, and ideally something for either Ruby or PHP. I've tried boot.dev -- it's fun, but Python and AI slop in places now.
Taking a break from social media for a bit.
Reply to this with a domain name or band name you've thought up, written down and never done anything with. I'll go first. I bought zebrafoot.com after seeing it on a Law and Order episode. I will commit to putting up a picture of a Zebra Foot there and a link to the posts for the best names I see. Please repost good ones! #zebrafoot
Please help #osuosl keep doing the excellent work they do for our communities. Please share this post so they can get the visibility they need. Donating is sadly a little fiddly but here:
Just lost my day job after 6 and a half years out of the blue with no warning. 8 weeks severance. My wife and I have now both lost our jobs in the last few weeks. I will lose my health insurance in 8 weeks. Fuck.
Mozilla doesn’t need to build any AI things. All Mozilla needs to do is: make a web browser that is standards compliant and does not adopt any of the nonsense that for-profit companies are doing to try and destroy the web. Mozilla doesn’t need to run a VPN service, data broker service or anything else. I just want my money to donate to the development of the browser. No AI stuff. No cryptocurrency donations. https://hachyderm.io/@joeyh/114078238284059938
If you have a device that CAN run Apple Intelligence you need to turn this off as well as the general Apple Intelligence setting. Settings > Screen Time > scroll down to Content and Privacy > turn on Restrictions > Intelligence and Siri > turn off the first three options. - Even if you’ve already turned it off elsewhere. - Even if you don’t use screen time. https://social.coop/@mattl/114050543215068352

Other than Bandcamp and Discogs what is a good generic resource to link to for a band assuming you know the band name and maybe the album name? (I run Libre.fm, we’d love to offer a way that at least tries to link to you getting paid)
Do you actively hate BlueSky?
