i am very tired of seeing all this smart home shit that insists on being wireless and relies on batteries being changed or recharged for all eternity.
needing to babysit batteries does not help achieve the goal of automating things.
the "get power and data to somewhere" problem has been solved, decades ago, by PoE.
also quit making USB dongles if the USB part does literally nothing but convert it to RS232
