Lol. So after years of "release the Epstein files" the new spin is "releasing the Epstein files is bad because it's publishing CSAM" How do they not have whiplash? RE:
This is a good read RE: View quoted note →
Every few months someone reads a terms of service and spots the *basically necessary* copyright license that any site that handles 3rd party content HAS TO HAVE to avoid getting sued out of existence by awful copyright lawyers and freaks out. Mike here explains why. RE:

If you know the (somewhat misleading) story of "cargo cults"... this is a cargo cult video. Someone checked off the boxes of what they thought it took to make a compelling Mamdani video, without understanding what actually goes into making a Mamdani video. RE:
Lots of people pointing out how crazy this is, but I'll just point out that it was only a few weeks ago that Donald Trump talked about cutting off all gov't contracts with Elon Musk companies... RE: View quoted note →
For the past two years on Techdirt we've referred to X as ExTwitter, which got across the point of what it was. But I'm now calling it X. Because Twitter is well and fully dead. X is purely a personal propaganda platform of Elon Musk that has nothing to do with what Twitter once was. RE:
EU is demanding that every site use age verification technology, while insisting it do things it cannot do, and behave in a manner it cannot behave. This is not policy making. This is wishful thinking, with a side of "we'll just blame the tech companies for not waving their magic wand." Over the weekend Elon admitted that Grok basically had two modes: "woke libtard cuck" or "mechahitler" and he couldn't figure out how to make it anything else. I guess he turned the dial towards mechahitler again. RE:
Randomly impressed by comment spammers who sign up for a Techdirt account six months ago and then suddenly pop up now to try to spam our comments (yes, we still catch them and delete them, usually before any spam is visible to visitors, but still, weird that they sign up and wait so long).
