Mastodon question: How does one read an exported archive of their account's activity?
I am doing some saving of writing I've done on here, and potentially reorganizing it to do something with it. And I thought maybe exporting and reading my archive would be easier than going post by post manually on here.
Any easy to use applications or resources that don't require me to be a programmer? Would be nice to have it as a backup.
I'm entering 2025 with better habits and more capacity to support myself than I have in a long time. And there's no more need in me to take part in escapism when we have battles aplenty ahead. I am primed and ready to build up our community more than ever, and we will survive and dance in the faces of those that hate us. 😈 :ablobcatrave:
Probably the best review of the new Nosferatu movie: the waitress at the bar next door has had people coming in so shook that she can recognize them on sight and treated one of us to a beer because she looked like she needed it. 😅
As for me, I can’t remember the last time I felt a horror movie so viscerally and was left still unpacking it afterward in this way. Similar to how Eggers handled the Witch, this portrayal and reading of the vampire harkens back to historical associations and perspectives. And it went places that I didn’t expect with the story. There’s also some interesting homage moments to the Coppola’s Dracula.
Anyway, if you are a horror fan or nerd like me, GO SEE IT. It is a slow burn, but just builds and boils clear to the end.

How do I tell my boss, who is a fan of ChatGPT, that I will not use it to write things because it's horrifically damaging to the environment and is based off plagiarization?
Like, how do you say that to the person whose good will your employment depends on (small NGO and she's the executive director, so...yeah), that you think something she uses every day is unethical to use that way? 😬
New year, new habit: I'm going to plan a date with myself twice a month.
My therapist and I have been examining ways for me to work on the struggles I have being on my own. A big thing is that for me, it is all lonely "being alone" and never a peaceful or joyful "solitude." And one part of that is that maybe I need to rekindle my relationship with myself - intentionally planning time to just be with me and enjoy being with myself.
First attempt is going to be going on a hike at a local lagoon on January 1st!
Does anyone have any favorite things that they would do as a "date with myself"? Looking for suggestions and ideas.
So far, the big ones I have planned first are hiking and going to a museum, which are both things that have been good for spending time with myself in the past.
That feeling when your workplace gets name dropped by the Daily Wire to be targeted for harassment. 😅
Gosh am I glad that I already started the process of removing my easy to find digital footprint. Going to be an interesting year to come. 🙃
