Gotta say, I’ve been predicting the age of assassinations and targeting the ultra-rich would be coming back around again. Probably the last time that happened in this style is 1880s/1890s during the inequity of the gilded age of the US and capitalist disruption and exploitation in places like Russia too. Like, guillotine jokes have been going around for a decade and I just joked about how eating billionaires is good for the environment a couple weeks ago. Seems only natural some folks would be inspired by this general mood and grassroots consensus that billionaires need to stop being billionaires, either by no longer having billions or by no longer being. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Judging by the number of people I see taken off-guard by it being December, I’m going to go out on a limb and say a lot of us have been dissociating hard since November 5th 😅 November actually was like three months for me with the way my work played out this month. I’m more in the, how is it only December? I still have to deal with a whole month of 2024?! Ugh.

Two weeks ago, my work friend was visiting and brought me flowers when they came over to visit for tea - and I teared up a little. 5 years into transition, and when someone gives me flowers to show they care and appreciate me, it still is magical and makes me feel affirmed in ways I can't begin to put into words. To this day, this was probably only the fourth or fifth time anyone has given me flowers in my entire life. I remember each one and treasure it so damn much. I literally pressed flower petals for the first time and keep them in a jar from the second bouquet I ever received. When we say "give trans women their flowers while they're alive," I don't think people understand fully how big that really is for us, even literally. So, if you want to make a trans girl smile and feel like she is special and appreciated, go literally get her some flowers (as long as she isn't allergic) and watch her melt in joy.

You know what, I think I need to eat crow and just say it: I was wrong about stockpiling HRT. We need to start talking about creating stockpiles over the next few months and developing networks for distribution outside insurance and big providers. I was watching a video and they just reminded me that they have vowed to overturn ACA as a priority and there is no longer resistance within the republicans to this. ACA has a clause that my org has leveraged across the country to compel insurance companies and doctors to provide HRT. Others have done this too and this is the reason it is covered now and that being trans isn’t a disqualifying condition for coverage. Without ACA, any state that doesn’t have laws in place providing similar protections and guarantees is going to see insurance companies pull the rug out from under trans healthcare. I would venture to guess we can still leverage state laws in California, but probably about 2/3rds of the states won’t. #Trans #Transgender
