Another banger from George Monbiot: "If such claims arose from any other sector, we would recognise them for what they are: industry lobbying. But because their bucolic imagery chimes with deep cultural themes, enthusiasm for such non-solutions extends all the way from McDonald’s to King Charles. The phenomenally complex challenge of feeding the world without devouring the planet will not be met through wishful thinking and romantic simplicities."
I don't buy toilet paper there any more.
Ooh...
The Graun article on dire wolves was correct in saying they have the dire wolf phenotype (not genotype, although they could have explained to the layman what this meant). It's basically genetic lipstick rather than anything approaching de-extinction. What a colossal waste of resources. #direWolf
"Pakistan isn’t trying to become a Silicon Valley of solar. It’s not chasing unicorn valuations or plastering press releases with blockchain buzzwords. It’s solving energy poverty with sunlight and silicon. It’s trading diesel for distributed storage. It’s moving from grid collapse to gridless competence. It’s trading petrol for electrons. And it’s doing it at a pace that should embarrass countries with ten times the GDP."
