I took my family out for dinner to celebrate Pixelfed and Loops success earlier tonight! It was amazing, they are so proud of me 😁 I broke the news that the local newspaper reached out and wants to interview me. Loops in its current state would wreak havoc on Mastodon and other fediverse platforms that cache remote media This is why it doesn't federate yet, and isn't fully open source. Loops is serving TBs of video per day, and we don't even federate yet. Which is why I'm working on a solution to minimize bandwidth, and leveraging the upcoming FediCDN initiative. We're going to get this right, and without other fediverse servers having to pay for this expensive video federation! Stay tuned. #loops
You know what's cool about the fediverse? Unlike most social media platforms, it exists largely outside of the USA. The 3 largest fediverse platforms were created by 2 germans and 1 canadian. Not just that, but you have people like @Aral Balkan building

I had to put my dog down two days ago suddenly, and I'm still kinda broken. He got me though the darkest times of my life, he would sit and watch me code for hours every night, building @Pixelfed We had so many amazing times together, but I can't help feel guilty and blame myself for not getting him help sooner. I'd trade everything, including the kickstarter and grants just to have him back. He was my everything. Give your puppers a big hug for me, they love us so much ❀️ image
