Loops has no plans to introduce ads, that's kinda the whole reason I built it.
I made a poll about monetization and ads that had nothing to do with Loops, and even after explaining that, people are still confused about that.

i've been advised to slowly tease it, as full exposure may lead to euphoria, extreme feelings of fulfillment and bouts of random photo sharing.
Do not take with alcohol, as that could lead to uncontrolled posting of blurry sunset photos and excessive use of the Cleana filter.
Side effects may include compulsive gear acquisition syndrome and an unhealthy obsession with golden hour.

I'm taking this opportunity to learn from my experience with Pixelfed.
I'm writing way more tests, implementing all of the basics (like i18n, federation), and will be publishing extensive docs at the same time as we release the source code early next year.
I won't waste this momentum, and we'll enter 2025 as a healthy and fast growing fediverse platform.

You will soon be able to run your own federated, self-hosted TikTok alternative with first class support for ActivityPub and a rich API with a vibrant 3rd party ecosystem.
The goal is to make Loops as easy to install as Wordpress.
Way easier than Pixelfed, you won't need to worry about permission issues, or many common gotchas.
While we are keeping options open, it's possible to use Loops with sqlite and a cronjob based queue/task scheduler, without redis even.
You will need ffmpeg though, or you can rely on client side optimizations, but you will see larger storage usage.
