I love all the compliments, but seriously, Mike Macgirvin and a dozen other developers have been pioneering progress and they don't get the attention they deserve. Mastodon and Loops is cool and all, but checkout the other projects too! https://fedidb.org/software
Honestly, if there was an award for Fediverse Person of the Year, I would have many people to nominate. @ζ΄ͺ 民憙 (Hong Minhee) :nonbinary: - Fedify & Hollo Dev @npub1j2m3...ngt0 - Phanpy dev [@thisismissem]( ) - IFTAS advisor and safety focused dev who helped many fedi projects [@FediThing]( ) - FediTips manager and ideal fediverse onboarding concierge [@_elena]( ) - The Future is Federated author and fediverse activist who is my favourite fedi influencer @Andy Piper - Mastodon DevRel & community wizard @Sean Tilley - blogger & more
When you really believe in the concept of the fediverse, and see how amazing it is to see "competitors" work together, you know you're a part of something special.
I've heard back from 4 different fediverse platforms that are interested in collaborating with Loops, and still waiting on a few others! I'm organizing a client API spec for Loops with @npub1vfx6...w9u6 so we can leverage our vibrant ecosystem to allow users to pick the best client and backend, regardless of project ✨ Pretty amazing what's possible with #activityPub and collaboration, eh πŸš€
Installed postgres 16 to fix some bugs in @pixelfed, then will be pushing a new app build out and submitting to the app store ✨ Then back to @loops πŸš€
Another interesting Pixelfed R&D program is our vision reality or VR which is building filters for the Pixelfed and Loops cameras, applying Snapchat like filters in real time, using face tracking and everything It's really cool, and I'm working out a plan to share these in ActivityPub so you can have a library of AR filters. There are so many aspects of a platform like Loops and Pixelfed like this you may not be aware of, so it may look like I'm not working, but I really am, on stuff like this
Experimenting with BYOD (bring your own domain) in Loops, to allow users to use their domain as a username and easily migrate to their own server. Interesting times at @pixelfed HQ πŸ‘€
Early preview of the new @pixelfed webUI ✨ #pixelfed image
I hope the Pixelfed community doesn't feel abandoned because I'm working on Loops. I've never taken a vacation since I started coding @pixelfed in April 2018, and this Loops stuff isn't really a vacation, but don't worry! My focus remains Pixelfed, I'm just taking advantage of the upcoming TikTok ban for the fediverses sake. I hope my pixelfam will forgive me πŸ₯Ή
Having a lot of fun building the Loops webUI using vue, pinia and tailwind. Can’t wait to jump back on the new @pixelfed redesign I started cooking up last month, I’ve learned a lot since I last updated the Pixelfed UI in 2020!
