Upon learning that your own mistake sent an innocent father to a brutal prison where he’s likely to be tortured, anyone with a shred of decency would be overcome with shame and fight like hell to get him back. They think it’s funny. On vaccines, immigration, trade, race, gay rights, crime — name your issue — the entire country is now trapped by the bigotries and delusions of a sunsetting old man whose worldview is stuck in 1986.
NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID. This is what actual campus censorship looks like. [‘Climate of fear’: Montreal do...]( )
A surreal exchange. Boasberg gives the government every benefit of the doubt over what are clearly multiple acts of contempt. Meanwhile, the DOJ attorney sounds like Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. [bsky.app/profile/josh...]( ) RE: View quoted note →
Kash Patel wants to criminally charge groups who received EPA grants for climate change projects. You know, like those greedy bastards at Habitat for Humanity. He thinks climate change isn't real, so he thinks these groups have committed fraud. Which of course is fucking crazy. [Trump’s FBI Moves to Criminall...]( )
The Trump administration spent $250K to fly 9 immigrants to Gitmo on an enormous military plane so Laura Ingraham would have some cool footage for her show. [www.happyscribe.com/public/the-r...]( ) [Transcript of Trump power grab...]( )
New from me: I tried to capture and summarize just five days of the madness this administration is unleashing on the world. [radleybalko.substack.com/p/trump-roun...]( ) [Trump roundup: Five days]( )
Still dizzying how "USAID spent $50 million for condoms in Gaza" -- an utter fabrication from the start -- then grew to $100 million. And then became "$100 million for condoms for Hamas." The lesson after Springfield seems to be that when you're shown to be lying, you just exaggerate the lie.
New from me: I spoke to some immigration attorneys about what they've seen so far, and what they anticipate is coming. Some crazy stuff in here, including the fact that these attorneys did not want to be named out of fear of retaliation. 1/2 [radleybalko.substack.com/p/a-q-and-a-...]( ) [A Q&A with immigration attorne...]( )
Let’s pan back a bit. The VP said a 25-year-old who tweeted racist shit 2 months ago should have access to everyone’s financial, medical, and other info — so he can fire people trying to fight racism. And when a congressman said the kid should at least apologize first, the VP told him to “grow up.”
