A new study from two researchers at the University of Amsterdam looks at what makes social media so terrible — and found that it's not algorithms, non-chronological feeds or humans' tendency to seek out negativity. "Rather, the dynamics that give rise to all those negative outcomes are structurally embedded in the very architecture of social media. So we're probably doomed to endless toxic feedback loops unless someone hits upon a brilliant fundamental redesign that manages to change those dynamics," writes @Ars Technica's @npub1u7g7...72fa. She spoke with Dr. Petter Törnberg, one of the study's authors, to learn more. #Technology #Tech #SocialMedia #Internet

Ford says it's cracked the code on cheap EVs, thanks to more streamlined manufacturing processes and lithium iron phosphate batteries that the company says are more durable, faster charging and more affordable than what it currently uses. There will be more use of automation and robots, but the company declined to specify how this compares to current manufacturing. Ford announced a "family" of low-cost vehicles that will be made in Kentucky, starting with a four-door mid-sized pickup that will arrive in 2027 and will cost $30,000.
