Some experts thought that the sluggish sales of Tesla in Europe were due to the fact that the brand was updating its Model Y car and so people were waiting to purchase the new version. That doesn't seem to be the case. According to Electrek, sales are through the floor in France, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, and other countries, even after the new Model Y launch. Tesla had a modest increase in year-on-year sales in Austria, and a huge one in Norway, but, reporter Fred Lambert notes, that's against a particularly bad May 2024 for the country. The automaker has been offering record discounts including zero-interest financing in order to incentivize sales. "2,500 Norwegians buying Tesla vehicles in May isn’t compensating for the declines in other markets and I doubt that the surge in May in Norway is going to be sustainable in the second half, especially if Tesla ends the zero-interest financing when it claims it will at the end of the quarter," writes Lambert.
