All political tribes can be hypocritical but the right's current level of hypocrisy on free speech is deliberate. It's an assertion of power not a blindspot.
Nice timing that Tim Allan has been brought in as Director of Comms a week before this blows up given he was deputy comms director for Blair when Mandelson was getting into trouble the first time around.
