I’m reading a book on the history of the telegraph. Seemingly back in 1859 there was telegraph slang, and people were telegraphing each other β€˜GM’ for good morning lol. Thomas Edison and Andrew Carnegie both got their starts as telegraph boys. They would have been carrying around GMs for and between people. image
