It's time for somebody to come up with a solution to the touchscreen problem, where your finger obscures the element you're interacting with. I propose a little ball at the bottom of the device that can simulate a touch when rolled and pressed, perhaps with some kind of indicator showing where the touch will be registered.
You can't just say "we are experiencing a higher than normal call volume" when it's the same volume every day. That *is* the normal call volume.
