Most of the theming issues have been fixed on our instance. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the layout bugs… I've been pretty stressed out and dealing with ongoing migraines and postdromes, so maybe it wasn't the best idea to take on this huge task today. Still, about 90% is done, and the rest will be fixed here in production. I'll push the MVP version of the new theming system soon. Again, sorry, I'm trying my best! The fixing of the fuckening continues… #MementomoriSocial #MastodonBirdUI

:skull360: We've successfully upgraded our Mastodon server to v4.6.0-alpha.1+mementomods-2025-12-21, along with Mastodon Bird UI 4.0.0-alpha.0. :mastodon: This version is a major upgrade, containing over a month of updates and changes since November 15. Notable changes: ☑️ Wrapstodon – The annual review of your posts. From December 10–31, users receive a notification inviting them to generate their annual report. Each user gets an "archetype" (like The Oracle, The Archer, etc.) based on their posting behavior. Reports come with shareable URLs. ☑️ Dedicated user preferences for theme mode & contrast (Dec 19) – New settings for light/dark mode and contrast preferences. ☑️ Media modal improvements – Smoother scrolling; prevents swiping when zoomed in. ☑️ Privacy and reach settings moved – Now located in top-level navigation instead of under "Public profile." ☑️ Improved search menu keyboard navigation. ☑️ Mobile admin sidebar fix – No longer displays under the batch table toolbar. ☑️ Vertical video handling – Prevents videos from overflowing the viewport. ☑️ Emoji system overhaul (backend changes). ☑️ Quote post refinements – Filters now properly apply to quotes in detailed view; quote-related fixes and stability improvements. ☑️ Numerous admin and performance fixes. Mementomori.social-specific improvements ☑️ Autoplay video muted. ☑️ Let it snow – Snowflakes now start earlier and finish after Christmas, turning into confetti for New Year’s. This update includes today's latest daily build, so everything is as up to date as possible. The version also brings minor UI improvements. Check out our fork source code here: For the brave, Mastodon Bird UI 4.0.0-alpha.0 is still a work in progress in the branch dev-build-system-css-theme-tokens. It's not stable or officially released yet, but we're getting close: As always, if you notice anything unusual or buggy, please reach out to me or any of the admins. Enjoy your time here, and feel free to message me with any questions or thoughts. :bunhdheart: #MementoMoriSocial #Mastodon #MastoAdmin
It bugs me every time someone non-technical, from a completely different line of work, says you no longer need to learn to code because you can "build" an app, website, or server in minutes with AI. Nobody performs chiropractic neck manipulations based on AI tips, nobody does professional construction work, or performs surgery with AI... right? (At least, I hope not.) And people usually understand that. So why can't they grasp that you still need to be a professional and actually know what you're doing, with or without an AI? You wouldn't tell a friend to "just do it" when they a) have no idea what you’re asking, and b) don't know how to do it. Every line of code is a liability. It's a dangerous world right now, with people mindlessly throwing more and more junk online. Everyone will get hacked eventually. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Coding #Programming #WebDev #Security
As much as I'm getting used to the idea of mortality (just look at the name of my instance), I miss my father and his father, both gone too soon. I don't think that sentiment ever fades. And now I'm next in line to be the one who's missed, or at least I hope so, because I'd rather not have to miss my descendants. When death touches you, it never really leaves. But for now, I live, for all of them. And they live on in me.
