Bluesky, being the largest ATProto AppView, means that their moderation decisions have the broadest impact on the ATmosphere experience.
Mastodon, being the largest ActivityPub platform, means that their decisions on how quote posts work have the broadest impact on the Fediverse experience.
The quicker everyone realizes these ecosystems are similar, the quicker we can focus on targeting social siloes that still dominate the social media landscape.
If you want the Fediverse to succeed, you need to step out and understand why other folks aren't joining.
Sure, you can post negatively about the alternatives using an ActivityPub account where no one else can see it, or you can go to the other platforms and tell them why you look down upon them. But neither of those is working, right?
Identify what we're missing. Build it. Work with makers. Fund projects. Stop yelling in your bubble. And, for god's sake, stop spreading misinformation.
"Bluesky and Mastodon are dead"
Meanwhile, Kat Abughazaleh: "Bluesky outperforms YouTube, Threads, and our social media ads by about 2:1 per site."
@npub1lrqq...pn8w similarly has said @npub1qmg7...s6k5 fundraisers do best on Mastodon.
Dead for whom? Perhaps folks with dying audiences elsewhere.
Wow, can't believe I missed that @npub1lzdq...urpr now supports long-form articles, RSS/Atom support, *and* has an "Articles" feed builder preset.
This is...starting to feel like an endgame platform for me.

"So letβs connect, letβs build bridges. But also, letβs finally help the X-shaped zombie die"
Love this piece by @npub10jfr...4g7l that gives great advice on how to use the open social web to its fullest:
In the last five years, we've gone from "employees will never have to go into an office" to "employees need to be in the office because creative and innovative work can only be done face-to-face between humans" to "lol we don't need humans"
Many folks have asked us about auto-bridging Bluesky like @npub1hw0z...jzvh has, and it's a good question!
There's two reasons for not flipping that switch:
1. Costs! Bsky has a huge userbase, and Bridgy Fed / @npub13rs5...s8u8 is currently mostly self-funded with some community support (ty!). Onboarding a large swath of users isn't something we can afford at the moment. If you'd like to support us, we have a Patreon https://www.patreon.com/anewsocial and merch
