Château de Sourniac, located in the Cantal department of south-central France, dates back to the 15th century, originally built as a medieval fortified residence.
It was constructed to assert control over the surrounding lands during a time of regional conflict and feudal power struggles.
In the 17th century, it was transformed into a more comfortable Renaissance-style château, while still preserving defensive elements like towers and a moat.
Today, Château de Sourniac stands as a charming and well-preserved piece of French rural history.

Key Features & Design:
Base Vehicle: Built on a sheet metal and Plexiglas body, it was essentially a Renault 2.5T transformed.
Pen-like Appearance: The entire vehicle resembled a giant Bic Cristal pen, with the cap positioned at the back, exposing the functional tip for the driver.
Illuminated Details: Four pens on each side of the cabin and the horizontal "sword" pens were lit up, making it highly visible at night.
Functional Tip: The front tip allowed the driver to see the road, integrating the pen's function into the design.
Promotional Power: It was part of Bic's famous publicity caravan, alongside other branded vehicles, to promote their revolutionary disposable pens.
Historical Context:
Debut: Introduced for the 1953 Tour de France, marking Bic's entry into large-scale, memorable product marketing.
Legacy: Though eventually discarded, it remains a classic example of mid-century promotional vehicles, highlighting early globalization and the impact of simple innovations like the ballpoint pen.

🏰Stará Plynárna, located in the village of Hřensko near the entrance to the Bohemian Switzerland National Park in the Czech Republic, is a striking example of industrial heritage transformed into a charming landmark.
Originally built in the late 19th century as a gasworks facility, it once supplied lighting for the local area before falling into disuse as technology advanced.
Despite its industrial origins, the building has a distinctive fairy-tale appearance, with steep roofs, stone facades, and ornate wooden details that blend seamlessly with the surrounding cliffs and forests. Its picturesque exterior, set against dramatic sandstone formations, makes it one of the most recognizable buildings in Hřensko.
Today, Stará Plynárna has been restored and repurposed as a cozy guesthouse and restaurant, offering visitors both comfort and a glimpse into the region’s past.
🏰🌲Inside, guests can enjoy a warm, rustic atmosphere inspired by the building’s historical character, with wooden beams, stone walls, and traditional décor that reflect the charm of the Bohemian countryside.
The location is ideal for exploring nearby natural landmarks such as the Pravčická Gate, Edmund Gorge, and the winding Kamenice River.
Stará Plynárna also serves as a peaceful retreat after hikes, providing hearty local dishes and relaxing accommodations. Its blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty has made it a beloved stop for travelers discovering the landscapes of Bohemian Switzerland.
Whether admired for its unique design or used as a base for outdoor adventures, Stará Plynárna remains a memorable part of Hřensko’s cultural and scenic identity.
