🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image image On this day in 1964, the Zombies single “She’s Not There” peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 (December 12) The song written by keyboard player Rod Argent was the debut single for the UK band, and was later included both on the Zombies' debut album “Begin Here”, released in the UK in December 1964, and the US album “The Zombies” issued January 1965. It was also included on the soundtrack to the 1979 feature film “More American Graffiti”. It went all the way to #1 in Japan and New Zealand, was #2 in Canada, and #12 in the UK. A classic rock track, Rolling Stone magazine ranked "She's Not There" #297 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. #thezombies, #zombies, #shesnotthere, #60smusic, #60srock, #rockhistory, #thisdayinrock, #dailyrockhistory, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday "Pure signal,no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Behold, the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, erected around 2580–2560 BC, and El Castillo (Temple of Kukulcán) in Chichen Itza, Mexico, dating back to the 9th–12th centuries AD, stand as silent witnesses to human ambition and ingenuity. These majestic structures, pyramids of stone and memory, bear the etchings of time. Wind and sun have sculpted their surfaces, whispering tales of pharaohs and Mayan kings, of astronomical precision and ritualistic dance. They are more than just monuments; they are libraries of lost languages. Yet, in their stark geometry, they mirror the very mountains from which they were hewn, a paradox of human creation striving for natural harmony. They stand defiant against the shifting sands of time, beckoning us to ponder our place in the grand tapestry of existence. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image 🏰 St Michael's Mount St Michael's Mount in Cornwall, UK. Historically, it is a Cornish counterpart of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, France. The monastery founded by the Benedictines in the 12th century occupies the whole of the tidal island. You can reach it only at low tide, walking along a paved stone path running on the bottom of the bay. The ancient castle on top has since the mid-1600s been home to the St Aubyn family, who still lives here today. The castle has some interesting exhibits like a crossbow for hunting hares or rabbits, a clock that tells you the time of the tide, a piece of Napoleon's coat worn at the Battle of Waterloo and a mummified cat, which is an unusual souvenir from a trip to Egypt. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image John Travolta’s famous dance sequence to The Bee Gees “You Should Be Dancing”: image On this day in 1977, the movie “Saturday Night Fever” was released by Paramount Pictures (December 14) A major critical and commercial success, “Saturday Night Fever” had a massive effect on popular culture of the late 1970s. The film helped significantly to popularize disco music, dancing, and nightclubs around the world and made John Travolta, who was already well known from his role on TV's “Welcome Back, Kotter” a household name. The “Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack” is one of the best-selling albums in history, and remains the second-biggest-selling soundtrack of all time, selling 40 million copies worldwide. Producer Robert Stigwood commissioned the Bee Gees to create the songs for the film. As Robin Gibb said: “We were recording our new album in the north of France. And we'd written about and recorded about four or five songs for the new album when Stigwood rang from LA and said, 'We're putting together this little film, low budget, called Tribal Rites of a Saturday Night. Would you have any songs on hand?', and we said, 'Look, we can't, we haven't any time to sit down and write for a film'. We didn't know what it was about.” The brothers relented though, and wrote the songs "virtually in a single weekend". Barry Gibb remembered the reaction when Stigwood and music supervisor Bill Oakes arrived and listened to the demos: “They flipped out and said these will be great. We still had no concept of the movie, except some kind of rough script that they'd brought with them...” The soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. It is the only disco album to do so, and one of only three soundtrack albums ever to win an Album of the Year Grammy. In 2020, the album was ranked #163 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". #saturdaynightfever, #beegees, #johntravolta, #youshouldbedancing, #soundtrack, #70smusic, #70smovie, #grammyawardwinner, #grammywinner, #barrygibb, #mauricegibb, #robingibb, #thebeegees, #stayinalive, #nightfever, #howdeepisyourlove, #discomusic, #morethanawoman, #ificanthaveyou, #disco, #dailyrockhistory, #dancemusic, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday "Pure signal,no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Here is the description: "Angus of the Wind," a 16th-century stone warrior, rests on Scotland's Isle of Skye. He stands as a silent sentinel of a bygone era. Weathered by centuries of wind and rain, the stone figure is etched with a tapestry of moss and lichen. This texture evokes a sense of time's relentless passage, the sculpture embodies the essence of ancient courage. The rigid form, forever captured in stone, stands in stark contrast to the ephemeral nature of life. The sculpture reflects the eternal dance between fragility and endurance, where the human spirit, carved into stone, defies the inevitable decay.
