🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Gripsholms Slott 🏰 is a castle located in the town of Mariefred, in the province of Södermanland, Sweden. It is considered one of the most important and refined architectural jewels of the Swedish cultural heritage and overlooks Lake Mälaren in south-central Sweden. The oldest building was built around 1380 by the head of the royal council Bo Jonsson, under the reign of Magnus IV of Sweden, and belonged to his family until his death, when it was bought by Queen Margaret in 1404 and confiscated by Gustav I of Sweden in 1526. By order of the latter, the original building was demolished and in its place was built a castle with circular towers and a wall with defensive purposes. Since then the castle has always belonged to the Swedish royal family and has been used as a residence since 1713. Between 1563 and 1567 the castle was used as a prison by Erik XIV of Sweden to hold his brother Giovanni and his wife Catherine Jagiellon. The castle is currently open to the public and houses one of the oldest portrait galleries in Sweden and the world, the Statens porträttsamlingar. 📷 : @juliens_scandinavian_world "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

Real respect is demonstrated in how one treats others, especially those who can't do anything for us. The true strength and character of a warrior is best shown during difficult times. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image This is a propeller-driven snow vehicle, commonly known as an aerosani (also called a snowplane or aerosledge). What it is @Gunnar Stødle? An aerosani is a Russian/Soviet-designed winter vehicle that uses an aircraft-style propeller for propulsion and skis instead of wheels. Think of it as a cross between an airplane, a boat, and a snowmobile. Why it looks so strange • Rear aircraft propeller – pushes the vehicle forward through the air • Enclosed cabin – often adapted from aircraft or custom-built • Skis instead of tracks or wheels – designed for snow, ice, and frozen tundra • Aviation engine – many used surplus aircraft engines What they were used for Aerosani were widely used in the Soviet Union from the 1930s through the Cold War, especially in: • Arctic and Siberian transport • Mail and supply runs • Medical evacuations • Border patrol and military scouting • Scientific expeditions They were incredibly effective on flat snow and frozen lakes, where wheeled vehicles and even tracked vehicles struggled. Military history During World War II, aerosani were used by the Red Army for: • Reconnaissance • Troop movement over frozen terrain • Hit-and-run raids Some were even lightly armored and armed. Is this a specific model? This appears to be a mid-20th-century Soviet aerosani, possibly custom-built or experimental, rather than a single famous production model. Many were one-offs or small-batch builds, often using aircraft parts. Bottom line This is a Soviet-era propeller-driven snow vehicle (aerosani) — a brilliant, slightly bonkers solution for moving people across vast frozen landscapes before modern snowmobiles existed. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image image On this day in 1963, The Beatles single “I Want To Hold Your Hand” debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #10 (December 11) Taking two weeks to dislodge its predecessor, the fab four’s first million-seller "She Loves You" (their previous UK single), I Want to Hold Your Hand" went to #1 in the UK, and stayed there for five weeks, remaining in the Top 50 for 21 weeks in total. In 1963, the Beatles became stars in the UK, but couldn't break through in the US. They couldn't get a major label to distribute their singles in America, so their first three singles there, "Please Please Me," "From Me to You" and "She Loves You," were released on small labels and flopped, even though they were hits back in the UK. Eventually though, after the UK hype started to filter over, Capitol Records took notice and released "I Want To Hold Your Hand" in the US on December 26. It quickly rose to become the legendary band’s first US #1, entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart on 18 January 1964 at #45, reaching #1 on February 1, remaining at the top for seven weeks (until their next single, the re-released "She Loves You," replaced it), and staying on the Billboard chart for a total of 15 weeks. It sold better in the first 10 days of release in the US than any other British single, and remains the best-selling Beatles single in the United States, moving over 12 million copies. “I Want to Hold Your Hand" became the Beatles' best-selling single worldwide selling more than 12 million copies, also hitting #1 in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands. John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote this song in Jane Asher's basement. Asher was an actress who became Paul's first high-profile girlfriend. This was also the first Beatles song recorded on 4-track equipment. In 2018, Billboard magazine named “I Want To Hold Your Hand” the 48th biggest hit of all time on the Billboard Hot 100. In the UK, it was the second highest selling single of the 1960s, behind "She Loves You". In 1998 the song won the Grammy Hall of Fame Award. It has also made the list in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. In 2004, it was ranked #16 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and in 2010, Rolling Stone placed the song at #2 on its list of the 100 Greatest Beatles Songs, after "A Day in the Life". "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was said to be one of John Lennon's favorite Beatles songs. #beatles, #iwanttoholdyourhand, #60smusic, #johnlennon, #numberone, #paulmccartney, #ringostarr, #number1, #georgeharrison, #thebeatles, #thefabfour, #60smusic, #60srock, #rockmusic, #thisdayinrock, #rockhistory, #dailyrockhistory, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday, #rockandrollhalloffame, #grammyhalloffame "Pure signal,no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️
