Mayapán was the last major capital of the Postclassic Maya civilization (1200–1450 AD) on the Yucatán Peninsula (modern-day Mexico).
Founded in the mid-13th century after the collapse of Chichén Itzá, it served as the center of the Mayapán League, which united the city-states of northern Yucatán.
A walled city, densely populated (15,000–20,000 inhabitants), Mayapán was governed by a communal system of government called "multepal," the most powerful family being the Cocom dynasty.
In the mid-15th century (1441–1461), the city was sacked and burned during a Xiu family rebellion against the Cocom, and it never regained its former power.
By the time the Spanish arrived, it was a derelict ruin, but it was still considered sacred. Today, it is one of the best-preserved Mayan archaeological sites in Yucatán.

People often debate about whether they think Bruce Lee was a philosopher, a martial artist or an actor…and although each of these definitions can be applied to him, in reality there is one word which defines the dragon in his “totality”, and that word is:
• Pragmatist
Bruce Lee was as pure a pragmatist as you can get… he was driven by the pragmatist code of “effective-efficiency” as being his highest value.
If you read a definition of pragmatism it clearly matches the whole reasoning that Bruce formulated and used to create his art of Jeet Kune Do. Here’s a definition that shows this:
“Pragmatism is a philosophy that judges ideas, beliefs, and actions by their practical consequences, focusing on what "works" in real-world situations rather than abstract theories or dogma.”
In EVERYTHING Bruce did, results were the goal… hence his idea of “use only that which works, and take it from anyplace you can find it”.
Unlike so many who study different philosophical ideas however, Bruce actually lived them, each and every day… both professionally and personally… he was the ultimate pragmatist.
