🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image In the heart of the vast plains of the Turkish province of Aksaray stands Sultan Han, one of the largest and best-preserved caravanserais in the world. Built in 1229 during the reign of Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I, it served as a refuge for merchants, pilgrims, and travelers along the Silk Road. Its imposing walls, defensive towers, and magnificent entrance gate reflect the wealth and power of the Seljuks. After a fire, the structure was restored in 1278 by Sultan Kaykhusraw III and has survived to the present day. The caravanserai combines an open-air summer courtyard with covered winter quarters, including stables, storerooms, living quarters, and even a central mosque. Its portals, decorated with muqarnas and geometric motifs carved into stone, are considered masterpieces of Seljuk architecture. Sultan Han was once part of a dense network of inns along trade routes and a bustling crossroads between Anatolia, Persia, and Central Asia. With the decline of the Silk Road, its activity declined, but its walls remain a testament to an era when trade, culture, and encounters united people. Today, the Sultan's Palace remains an impressive example of Islamic architecture, captivating visitors from around the world. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Wat Kanlayanamit was established in 1825 by a wealthy Thai Chinese trader, who donated the temple to Rama III. Of interest is the 14 meter tall Buddha image, which is the largest in Bangkok. The temple also has the largest bell in Thailand. In the ordination hall of Wat Kanlayanamit there is a large Buddha seated in the Western style. At the foot there is an elephant and a monkey. This is a lucky Buddha image for people like myself born on Wednesday evening. I don’t often see it. Certainly not as the principal image. 📍MAP: https://goo.gl/maps/Cmab3Z9FkvFFDWY46 #Bangkok #Thailand "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️
🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE This week in 1970, the Dave Edmunds single I Hear You Knocking” went to #1 on the UK Singles Chart (November 28) Edmunds had originally planned to record a cover of "Let's Work Together" by Wilbert Harrison, but had to reconsider when he heard a version that had been recorded by Canned Heat. He later recalled: “Then an album of Smiley Lewis was released on United Artists in Britain, and they played "I Hear You Knocking" on the radio in Britain while I was driving along. I thought, "hang on", the two songs have identical format. You could use the same backing track for both songs. It's just a simple 12-bar thing. So I thought, I'll do that.” In December 1970, "I Hear You Knocking" reached #1 in the UK, where it remained for six weeks, and became a Christmas #1. In his famous Lennon Remembers interview for Rolling Stone, John Lennon commented, “Well, I always liked simple rock. There's a great one in England now, 'I Hear You Knocking'." It was a hit around the world for Edmunds, going to #1 in the UK and Ireland, #3 in Canada and Germany, #4 in the US, and #5 in Australia. #ihearyouknocking, #daveedmunds, #70srock, #70smusic, #rockmusic, #thisdayinrock, #rockhistory, #dailyrockhistory, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday "Pure signal,no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE Since The Doors resurgence in the 1980's, many books were published attempting to shed light on the band's music and its charismatic singer. Some books were good and others seemed more like a money making efforts. I read a lot of those publications and found that three titles were pretty informative and revealing. image 1. Jim Morrison: An hour for magic by Frank Lisciandro. A well iillustrated tome full of informative and revealing stories. image 2. Jim Morrison Life, Death, Legend by Stephen Davis. Rigorously researched book filled with numerous rarely heard stories that don't shy away from revealing Morrison as a real human being full of contradictions image 3. No One Here Gets Out Alive by Jerry Hopkins and Daniel Sugerman. The book that started it all. Though it is a well written bio which was so good that i was unable to put down, it appeared slightly sensationalized making Morrison out to be somewhat of a narcissistic, boorish alcoholic while still being remarkably creative artist. Oliver Stone's film was apparently based on many things described in the book, thus creating a one note character without nuances and subtleties. It was still a terrific book and a beautiful, but flawed movie. "Pure signal,no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️
