Bitcoin Dada now spans across 11 countries including Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Uganda, Cameroon, and Namibia. Our #17 is the resilient Glenn Jooste, South African pioneer igniting Bitcoin adoption through grassroots education, Lightning infrastructure, and community empowerment, turning financial exclusion into sovereignty for the underbanked. In 2025 he organised and contributed to dozens of meetups, workshops via Bitcoin Ubuntu and online classes, delivering hands-on training that empowered over 1,000 students – both in Swellendam and across the continent – with Bitcoin fundamentals, self-custody, and Lightning Network skills, Some participants have gone on to build circular economies, onboard merchants, and send low-cost remittances, slashing reliance on traditional banks. Through Bitcoin Boma, Grant is building a strong culture of self-custody, education, and community-led adoption.
