I have a new theory about Satoshi’s identity: He wasn’t one of the original cypherpunks. After rereading @Aaron van Wirdum 's The Genesis Book, The Book Of Satoshi and the Bitcoin whitepaper, it seems clear to me that #Satoshi wasn’t aware of previous attempts to create digital money. I believe he was researching digital timestamping and tried to combine it with @Adam Back ’s proof-of-work to solve the Byzantine Generals Problem, which then led him to create digital cash. Notably, the whitepaper doesn’t mention E-cash, Bit Gold, E-gold, or RPOW. Only b-money is referenced, and that was added after Satoshi asked Adam Back for feedback on an early draft. Satoshi later mentioned these other projects in forum posts and emails, but it seems he had only recently learned about them. Conclusion: I don’t think any of the following individuals were involved in creating the first version of #Bitcoin: - Adam Back - Hal Finney - Nick Szabo - Wei Dai - Eric Hughes - Phil Zimmermann - David Chaum image #StudyBitcoin
