The Rabbit War of 2025 has commenced. Each summer I engage in rodent wars - chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits. In the past, chipmunks have been the nemeses. I once started C.H.i.R.P. = Chipmunk Habitat Relocation Program for trapping and moving them. I think 18 chipmunks were relocated, none harmed. Below is a gif showing the traps: it goes it, bait is in the rear, trips the trigger, trapped. This year, it's rabbits. I had two nice tomato plants almost ready to be transplanted into the ground. A rabbit nipped one off, left it on the ground. I started more baby tomato plants. The rabbit nipped half of them off. So, I brought in the milk crate cover. If the problem persists, the next step is the rabbit trap and relocation. Stay tuned. image
For two days a rabbit has been terrorizing me and my tomatoes. Last night he nipped off half the plants, leaving them lying to wilt, yet left others onmolested. This was a power move designed to taunt and intimidate me. Let's see how he deals with the milk crate! Reminds of this ode: Thou wretched hare, Victorie is not wrested by battles in pairs. Nay, warres are won by the long game. How whilst thou reckon with thee milke crate? Tomorrow, is a newe day, I surrender naught, O thou hare o' Hades. image
