A long time Bitcoin Standard bearer actively training myself and my peers (so I have some), in the battle over ownership of our data, our money, and our communication channels in the war between decentralized free individuals and the centralized tyranny of the crowd.
Found this in my notes today, thought it applies to many, if not most of us here on Nostr. This quote speaks to exactly why I prefer 'self-sovereignty' over simply 'sovereignty', as to be self-sovereign is to neither rule over, nor be ruled over by others. Ancient Order Of The Hermetics James William Kaler · "He alone is great and happy who fills his own station of independence, and has neither to command nor to obey.” — Goethe True greatness does not scream for titles, nor does it depend on subordinates or masters. It is not found in the power to rule over others or in the comfort of being ruled. It is found in the still, sovereign soul who answers only to the divine compass within. To neither command nor obey—this is not the absence of discipline, but the presence of inner mastery. It is the awakened realization that the highest authority we can ever serve is the divine spark of consciousness within ourselves. This is what the ancients called gnosis—self-knowledge, self-governance, and the freedom born of understanding one’s place in the greater whole. The world teaches you to strive—to rise up the ranks, to be above others, to take orders until you’re giving them. But this is the illusion of power, not power itself. It is a game of shadows where the puppets mistake their strings for strength. Independence of spirit is the true seat of happiness. To live by principle, not pressure. To walk your path, not chase applause. To choose silence when others shout, to act when others stall, to think when others obey. The one who fills their station of independence knows that life is not about climbing ladders—it is about standing firm where one is planted, fully rooted in purpose, unmoved by the winds of external approval or fear. This is the Hermetic path. This is the warrior’s way. Not to rule, not to be ruled, but to be. For those with ears to hear—this is the quiet revolution. No flags, no followers, no thrones. Just the rise of the individual, sovereign and sacred, ruled by no one and in need of nothing. Fill your station. Walk your path. Bow to none but the truth within. image That is greatness. That is freedom. That is peace.
