I'm reading the 4th Turning as part of our Bitcoin meetup's book club and thinking about our political leaders so much is kind of stressing me out and is really pissing me off.
How the fuck are we going to get through this 4th turning when the system is so rotten? It's gonna take some fuckin big time energy and we're not going to be able to vote our way out of this mess.

If youβre an American, I think one of the 1st steps is reframing our thinking and language from political leaders to political representatives. The citizens are the leaders here, thatβs what was unique and codified in our founding. Bitcoin is a huge part of my answer, but our posture toward all levels of government and not acting as if they can just do what they want is also important.
Agree. And I can be vocal about how these MFers cannot be allowed to do whatever they want, but that's not enough to resolve a 4th turning.
Do you think a major, nation changing, world changing event is on the horizon? Apparently they tend to happen every 80-100 years or so and the last one was like 80-100 years ago.
I think itβs already happening which is why so many people feel angst. Old revolutions were based on access to physical power because information was so easy to control. This is the 1st time the major battle front is over control of information, so it feels completely different and doesnβt fit the recognizable cycle theory of previous turnings.
Yep, I've been saying something similar... it's a different battlefield. The war of this 4th turning won't be fought with bullets and 18 year olds.
Unlike WWII, the prophet generation aren't the allies of the hero generation, they are their lethal enemy.

Opting out of all news and politics fixes this π

How would this help get us out of this 4th turning?
Get us out of what? I'm not going to go read a shitload of paranoia-laced literature about whatever's coming. I'm only as prepared as I can be, and whatever it is, I'm sure it's already coming, so there's nothing I can do about it. I see no need for me to try to imagine hamster wheels about it and spend energy on worrying about it.
Additionally, I'll be 53 soon, and lucky if I live another 20 years, so there's that.
