NOSTR isn’t just a network — it’s the largest Lightning experiment on Earth running under pure freedom. Here, likes have value — they’re sats. No one seizes them, no one censors them. NOSTR? Your keys, your voice, your money. No forms, no data harvesting, no permission slips. One click and you’re in. No KYC, no gatekeepers, no begging the State or corporations to let you speak. And if you want to build, you can. Clients, relays, implementations — whatever you want. No contracts, no abusive policies, no owners. The question isn’t why use NOSTR. The real question is: Why are you still giving away your freedom anywhere else?

I believe that absolute freedom is an ideal to strive for, though impossible to fully achieve. Yet, every choice we make is a step closer to the greatest relative freedom possible. I don’t see anything wrong with entrusting a few sats or some data to a private entity you deeply trust. In fact, I think a well-designed federated network can be a good compromise on this challenging journey toward freedom.
They’re all FIAT stuff. I still use them most of the time, but they’re just tools. I keep spreading the word about open source, trying to help the people around me go down the rabbit hole! Banks could still exist in a Bitcoin standard, though. Not everyone is willing to take full responsibility for self-custody, and a proper custody service, without fractional reserves or other nonsense, could actually be a useful and legitimate business.
