So let me get this straight...
The IRS wants you to protect yourself from unfair capital gains tax rates by doxxing your entire stack to them.

im sad at the level of attention this 'change' has gotten in the community at large.
if the irs changes a rule, and were all using non-state money outside of their dragnet, who fking cares.
No. This isnβt doxxing anything if you do it right. It gives you optionality in the future and takes 10 minutes. You can always delete the time stamped files any time in the future if you wish.
Nobody watched Andreasβ video on this obviously. You can protect yourself with perfect privacy by simply creating, timestamping and securely storing the files showing your stack and how itβs held. You can set these files aside safely and delete them later if you want. You donβt have to give them to ANYONE unless YOU want to use it later to fight an audit. This is a GIFT from the IRS people. The safe harbor situation does NOT require you to file anything now. If you sell a bunch of bitcoin in an exchange next year or the next and subsequently get audited sometime in the future over it, you can just pull out your time stamped files and they canβt pursue you any longer after showing them that. Everyone seems to think the only way this works is to fill out the wallet info and send it in to the IRS before yesterday but THATβS NOT HOW THIS WORKS! #tax #taxes #safeharbor #bitcoin
