The Matrix was the best movie in the past generation that reached mainstream appeal and awareness. Artsy movies didn’t reach that level. Bigger movies weren’t as good. You might not know what red pill vs blue pill means, and yet you’ve heard of it. Send post. image

was just thinking about this recently while rewatching it. there’s the scene where they’re in the lobby just shooting everyone, with the music playing like they’re in a video game (which arguably, they kind of are) or a music video. I was thinking about how these people are not even agents. they’re just security guards doing regular jobs being told to stop these “terrorists” so they can barely scrape by and go home to their families while the system continues to dick them over. does that make them as much a part of the system as the agents? it kind of reminds me of one of the worst parts of atlas shrugged where the guard was shot for not being able to make up his mind about letting them through. is it justified? I don’t know. is the message here that everyone asleep in the matrix is just an npc in the system and it’s ok to kill them for being in your way because the only “real” living people are the ones who took the red pill?
