Born on this day in 1944, Alvin Lee, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the blues rock band Ten Years After, who had the 1970 UK No.10 single 'Love Like A Man'.
They had eight consecutive albums in the Top 40 on the UK Albums Chart between 1968 and 1973, and twelve albums enter the US Billboard chart.
On 17 August, the band performed a breakthrough American appearance at Woodstock Festival, their rendition of 'I'm Going Home' was featured in both the subsequent film and soundtrack album and increased the group's popularity.
Lee died on 6 March 2013. According to his website, he died from "unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure", he was 68.
