⚡️📺 NEW - Elon Musk: Earth only has 10% of its life left.
"The Sun eventually burning Earth—this is not a disputed fact. Earth’s been around 4.5 billion years, and it only has about 10% more life in it before it gets so hot life is impossible. We have to set up plans to leave and spread out."

It's undisputed because no one else thinks that.
Lol study the life cycle of stars
Even if true, there's really nowhere to run, ultimately, is there? Everything ends in heat death.
It’s not a matter of *even if*, it is WHEN? Just because you don’t believe in it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. Hubble telescope has monitored and studied lots of star deaths.
And thats his whole point, enable interstellar movements before our sun kills us.
Based on your analogy, ultimately we all die, so whats the point of living?
I could just add easily day, "Just because you believe it, doesn't mean it's true." Or, "Just because what we see through Hubble appears to indicate this, doesn't mean it's so."
I don't agree with your "what's the point of living" answer. There's is plenty to live for.
However, I am not a materialist. I am a Christian. I believe that there is a Creator who is fully in control of everything, every atom, every particle in this universe. And, I leave all of "that stuff" in his capable hands.
I'm not asking you to understand it believe that. But, I do take issue with Musk's "it's undisputed fact" statement that's based on what, a few decades of observation? We can't predict what the weather will be next week.
not to mention our understanding of physics, which cannot account for 96% of the matter in the universe, is fundamentally wrong.
well, if we’re actually going to go there, we might as well mention our origin story is wrong, our math is wrong, our history is wrong, our government is wrong, our medical system is wrong, and our money is wrong 😑
so were not off to a great start.
I can get behind most of what you said, though I think you didn't intend that lol. If I misunderstood your comment, I apologize.
The "scientific" view of the origin of the universe presupposes SO MUCH, it's laughable.
"Everything MUST HAVE started from a 'big bang' that started matter expanding out from nothing."
"It MUST HAVE taken billions of years for stellar matter to coalesce into stars, planets, etc."
"It MUST HAVE taken millions of years for life to evolve from single-cell organisms to what we have currently."
Just throwing out numbers. The materialist has a god, too; it's the got Time.
For me, it's much easier to believe that everything was created by a God who loves his creation and is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present in his creation.
Humanity rebels against this, and will try to believe almost anything else instead.
[humble] pie takes time 🫂
who’s the children’s book author of Pie Takes Time? …I can’t find his npub 😔
I’d love to learn more about the error of our ways with math… any recs you could share for diving into that rabbit hole?
You are assuming I don’t believe in god. But I do.
Do you know how star functions? How it supports the energy it does. It cannot support the energy perpetually because there not enough desirable atoms (atomic number less than Iron) to continue with fusion?
Because I have studied for years, I’m letting you know the facts. Like the fact that gravitation force attracts all masses. Like magnets with like poles repel and unlike poles attract.
But if you don’t believe in gravity, or if you believe the earth is flat, I don’t have the time to try to convince you that stars die and when they do they expand. And our sun will expand such that it will engulf earth.
You are correct, I did make an assumption. I apologize. However, you make the assumption that I'm an idiot, who has never read or studied these things. I have, quite intensely, and I REJECT the premises you presented.
The God I believe has a plan for this universe. I may not know it, I may not understand it, but I trust that he does, and that everything he does is for good, because he is good, and loves his creation.
What does YOUR good so?
I didn’t assume you were idiot. I assumed your expertise lies in somewhere else and not physics and astronomy.
I am a Hindu, and follow Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad gita doesn’t dwell in the external. In fact, its states the universe is dynamic and it keeps changing. It doesn’t say the sun and earth will be there forever to protect us. It actually teaches us the path to go beyond the karma of life and death, to find the god in the invariant space, whatever that may be.
For me, the bad side of Elon.
Just 450M years left. We're so fucked.
And, if India and Pakistan (or Iran and Israel, or Kiev and Russia, or...) decide to lob nukes at each other, then it won't matter, right.
Among those, only Russia, Pakistan and India posses working nukes. And among those most won't even launch, because they're not maintained. And then nukes are mostly smaller tactical nukes to be used on the battlefield and not to wipe out whole cities. So it's all bullshit when someone starts threatining to nuke the planet.
I disagree strongly!
Standard school knowledge for Europeans for decades.
Maybe “Make the US smart again” for the next election? 🤷
Yeah, our (U.S.) politics are shite, but the EU isn't exactly hitting it out of the park, lately.
Europeans are very poorly educated in the importance of individual freedom and liberty, that’s for sure.
