Hello frens,
Data engineer/analyst/architect here. I just survived the FOURTH ANNUAL round of layoffs at the Bitcoin+cRyPtO company where I work.
I appreciate everyone and everything I have learned from here. But after FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS of layoffs (most of it due to chasing shitcoin gains), I am ready to move on.
Please hit me up if you are a Bitcoin or Nostr company that needs a data expert (no shitcoins).

What open source will you pursue?
Do you know of any projects which need data analytics/engineering expertise?
Even if itβs just optimizing SQL queries for an application, I can help. But analytics-focused engineeringβ¦ I have not heard of or found much to contribute to in the Bitcoin world (outside say Mempool Space). Please lmk if you know of something.
@DudeChicken fr I would love to contribute. But I donβt build applications, I do data pipelines/models/viz. I can learn app dev but if Iβm gonna do open source I wanna start with something Iβm good at.
Have you looked into lightning?
This is an interesting talk on running Cashapp's LN node.

gave a talk last week at @btcplusplus Berlin "Running the block lightning node", check it out

@Jestopher is doing some cool LN work as well with Amboss.space. Rene Pickhardt was one of the first do do data science on lightning

Braidpool will need analytics work at some point. It's a P2P mining pool that coordinates hashrate futures between miners and risk takers.

We have loads of data @BTC Map π
Yo man π we're in the same boat π« data guy here also.
Maybe https://bitview.space/?
I know CDK has database stuffs CC @calle
I'll think more on this
Oh yeah Iβm sure you do! Any docs or area of the code I should check out? If youβre using any form of SQL database I could start looking for optimizations
Thanks, I am familiar with the project and got to talk with Bob about it at btc++
Let me know what youβre thinking in terms of analytics
π«‘
Yes, good call. He is a big brain data guy, weβve met a bunch of times at conferences. @Jestopher you hiring? π
Thanks this is cool! I had not seen this before.
At a glance it looks to be all application code, and uses a Bitcoin node as the βdatabaseβ. But Iβll check it out further and hit up the dev π€
Oh my you're available?? π
We're not hiring at the moment, but I would expect to hire in 2026.
Yea Iβm just fed up with the shitcoinery over here, nothing against the ppl. Iβm updating my resume will hit you up soon π€
I like your style
Vibe code your way to an open sats grant!
You can try posting your service on [SatShoot](https://satshoot.com/post-service/) , a freelance app I built on Nostr.
No middle man, no forced fees.
Someone might jump on it, but you'll need to promote it, markets are not yet so liquid in freelancing (and other areas on Nostr)
Wishing you all the best finding something purposeful
Are you familiar with graph databases?
There is currently a #wotathon going on hosted by @nosfabrica
My project is still in the ideation phase, but the process of building webs of trust on Nostr is very data intensive, and you might find it interesting to start a project or join a team.
Unfortunately I am only familiar at surface level, I have never worked on graph DBs. Most of my experience is in βbig dataβ cloud data warehouse stuff (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc), but Iβm equally comfortable in traditional relational DBs like Postgres.
Still would be interested to hear more about your project idea though, hmu π€
