I don't think we can just call an npub a user, there must be some additional metrix attached to the npub other then registered on a relay, like posts per month or a high WOT score.
How do you go into each relay and get that info and how do you know it’s unique npubs? I have a hard time believing we have 42 million unique npubs on NOSTR. If so then yay however it seems improbable based on the biggest users and their followers and the number of daily posts we have here ?
Anyone can generate public keys and there is a lot of spammers.

It will never be possible to truly get accurate number of real users on Nostr, for multiple reasons.
It was initially meant to say public keys and not users. It was changed by AI at some point. Thanks for pointing it out so I got to fix it 🤙 Impossible to make such counts, there are private relays and communities that exists as well that can't be counted.
