For those who still don’t know it: #nostr doesn’t protect your privacy by default ! You have to connect to different relays to communicate with most people using nostr, you’ll be exposing your IP address to every relay you connect to, directly associating your IP address to your digital identity on nostr.
Direct messages are encrypted BUT the metadata isn’t and to whom you talked to is a public information!

It would be really cool if the application you're using had a setting where it would refuse to connect and do anything unless you were on a VPN.

You're exposed not only to relays but to all the servers of the embedded media that's posted.
