fediverse could be good as a thing for tightly knit social media that drops public posts entirely. which would be good for people but it doesn't have the same dopamine hit.

@Blurry Moon i don't think people necessarily want a global firehose. it's more that they want to see worthwhile stuff. and a global firehose is actually pretty poor at surfacing interesting things. now, global *search*, that's a different thing. if you remember when google used to be "good", everyone would google things all the time. in many ways i think what is actually needed is a better google, not a better twitter.

@Blurry Moon fedi could provide it just fine but a few people will not allow it and that's final until they an hero, this is a distributed network with no distribution models allowed
