Is it currently the situation that Reads can be read by Primal users and via URLs, but not via other apps? Would be a request to look at that, though I understand you're building a brand and that's on your mind too. Also I didn't receive a DM for tech reasons I haven't studied yet. And not being able to buy sats directly is a bit inconvenient. More writing up soon in any case. Cheers.
A configurable Web of Trust filter setting, like on Coracle. Better threads view, like on noStrudel or Coracle. Hopefully soon: a volume button for the video player. A lot of times I wanna watch/preview a video without sound playback. Make the setting persistent too, to avoid having to mute it every single time. Thank you for all the hard work! 🫑

Many of my students are older normies and I want to have an interface that looks and feels familiar like X or LI or FB and of course will orange pill them along the way. I’m talking with @MAKE SONGS LONGER about building something on @Ditto by Soapbox ? It would be great if it were all just under one app like @primal β˜€οΈπŸ’œπŸ€™

I get a notification dot and it takes a while for the actual notification to show up in app -Improvements to trending, it pulls a couple notes and a bunch of random news articles right now
- Client-side spelling and minimal grammar suggestion post confirmation screen. - Fix dancing follower counts. - Keep track of which posts have been seen already. - Surface new posts vs old posts better. - Dump messaging entirely or fix. - Allow disable messages from non following handles. - Make notifications work for deep replies, too. - No delay when tapping from a notification of a reply to viewing that reply directly. There seems to be tons of synchronous blocking all over the UI, and hitting the backend when it can simply be initially presented instantly on the UI and then further filled out asynchronously by calling the backend in the background. Notifications -> viewing a reply is one place, but I feel this kind of blocking synchronization all over the app.
Reading from the comments, I think those suggestion we’re legit. I can’t wait for these new features to be implemented here. It’s fascinating to think that Nostr and AI (5-8) years ago simply were just an imagination, but now a reality. I am hopeful for the future with these technologies. With Bitcoin and Nostr, we are in good hands. πŸ§‘πŸ’œ

Advanced relay controls including multiple relay types (inbox/outbox etc) that allow an experienced user the truly sovereign Nostr experience within your app. Caching service is not the only value you offer. It can coexist with a more ethos aligned Nostr experience. You’d likely shed a lot of criticism by offering this option. Yes of course people are free to go elsewhere but why would you want this? Understand if this creates an unsustainable maintenance path for your business model but there may be opportunities for value add services for the hardcore sovereign crowd you are missing out on as well. The way threads are displayed makes it cumbersome to view a conversation happening. User has to click into each comment to read the entire thread. Nostrudel and Nostur make it a lot easier. Nostrudel expands everything and I think nostur expands everything from the OP. It would also be nice to able to sort comments on a post by likes, comments, zaps, or time.
If Primal is meant to be noob friendly, this screen shot illustrates a problem. Noobs do not know what a "Caching Service" is, what it does, or why we need one. The explanation is too technical. Noobs don't know what "fail over" is. If you walk up to 100 random people on the street, how many do you think are going to know what "fail over" means in the precise way that this "help" thing is using the terms? Noobs are not aware of lists of other "Caching Services". Noobs do not have a preference as to whether we should only leave one entry in the pool. Start9 did this on one of their steps...I'm sitting there reading the little if-then choice they left in their steps and I'm thinking to myself "But I don't know enough to even have an opinion on this choice they're telling me I have to make. What about people like me?" Please don't ever assume we know enough to make decisions about this kind of thing if you want Primal to be noob friendly. Also, as a sanity check for us noobs who are never sure if our stuff is messed up or if it's your side that's messed up, could there be a section in Primal where y'all post all the stuff that you are presently aware of that is messed up that people are bitching about? If I notice that the likes and reposts aren't working, it would be nice to be able to go to the "Known Issues Currently Affecting Users" section and see for myself "Oh...shit...look at that...it's not just me experiencing this issue" or, alternatively "Oh, damn...I'm the only one? Either I'm the first one to notice it which is unlikely or something's messed up on my end." That alone would be very valuable for those of us who are struggling to use this protocol because we haven't spent the last 20 years learning to code in an economy that requires much more than just coders. image
Integrated video compression. I want to upload my videos directly from my iPhone without having to compress it / change format first. You guys can decide what size and format the file should be to work best on nostr, I should not have to care. Either compress it automatically or add a button that says Β«this file is too big you stupid cunt, let me compress for youΒ»
