One of the challenges to onboarding the masses to #nostr is that the legacy social media environment has completely emptied out the “social” component and has largely evolved into naked audience-building, engagement farming, and clout-chasing for the purposes of monetization, which Elon has only turbo-charged.
So you get more incendiary stuff, more audience capture, more noise, etc. because the purpose is eyeballs, not connection or conversation or, dare I say, genuine “social” interaction.
Incentives are all warped. It’s kind of the same idea as “if it bleeds it leads.”
Nostr allows value to be explicitly exchanged but better aligns incentives. Which creates an epically more productive, genuine, fun environment.
Interestingly less transactional, despite allowing for direct transactions.
