i remember one time at best buy some dude upsold my parents a copy of #microsoft office because i mentioned that we could just run #libreoffice for free (it wasn't that great back then, to be fair). but i'll always remember the wording he used. that office wasn't "made by some dude in his basement", so it was inherently better. you know what? i'm some dude in my basement. i trust other dudes in their basements. we're all dudes in our basements. you, reading this. you're a chill entity in a basement, probably. i'd rather use #opensource basementware than corporate garbageware.
