🍊 orange update 🍊 image Next I drilled two holes into the vent frame, tricky to do this and had to do it a few times to get it aligned properly. Popped the LED light into the enclosure and secured it onto the vent frame with x2 screws. #DIY #Bitcoin #Mining #Lighting #Buidl
🍊 orange update 🍊 image The LED lights will sit inside the outer vents. I was not sure how well the LED lights would hold up in warmer conditions so I decided to make some heat/fire resistant enclosures for the lights. I could of made only two enclosures for the warm air vents... But to keep the symmetry, I made x4 for all the outer vents. Took a while to educate myself on what materials to use, how to construct these small things and get it all done. What I did: 1) Figure out where to put the lights and how to attach it so that they are easily removable in the event that they need changing. 2) Figure out the size of each enclosure and the pieces needed to make it. 3) Cut the materials to size, sand it down, wipe it and glue it together to make the transparent enclosure. 4) Drill two holes in each enclosure. 5) Sand all the edges, wash the enclosure in water and dry it. 6) Apply metal tape along the sides and back of the enclosure. 7) Temporarily cover areas which do not need painting. 8) Apply high heat resistant black paint, x3 coats along the sides, wait some time between each coat. #DIY #Bitcoin #Mining #Lighting #Painting #Buidl
🍊 orange update 🍊 image Next I was working on the top portion of the unit to make sure it is soundproofed and looks tidy. I got some thin (few mm) heatproof rubber material to cover the top of the walls all the way round the unit. I messed up a few times and had to buy more and redo it but I got it done nicely in the end. The white bits are metal sheets which have a protective film over it. Going to get artwork done on it so it needs to be scratch free until I do that. The metal sheets help block the sound. The small metal strip that secures the LED wires are now hidden under the rubber. I cut a few symmetrical notches in the rubber so it is easy to get the big metal sheets out. It's a tight fit so the small notches are needed. #DIY #Bitcoin #Mining #Soundproofing
lets squeeze in a few more posts before the game starts 🏃‍♂️
🍊 Orange Update 🍊 Next I: 1) Got all the LED wires together and temporarily taped them to each other. 2) I cut the black fire resistant wire casing so they are level with each other. 3) Fitted all the wires through the top of the metal box enclosure. This was tricky, it was a tight fit. 4) Put all the extra LED wiring and circuit boards in the metal enclosure and screwed the lid on. 5) Tucked it all the way into the soundproofing material. It fits well! Looks nice and tidy now 😁 #DIY #Bitcoin #Mining #Soundproof #Buidl #POW #LED #Lighting #Wiring
🍊 First update post after a few months, lots more to come. 🍊 image Previously, I carved out some gaps in the upper section of the unit to make way for the LED light wiring. What I did next to finish it off: 1) Taped off the outer areas to keep everything clean and focused. 2) Added some wood filler to the the chipped areas, waited for it to dry. 3) Sanded it all down so it was smooth. 4) Wiped it all clean so there is no residue left. 5) Applied 3 coats of black paint, waited some time between each coat. 6) Squeezed in the wiring into the gap making sure not to damage anything and secured it with a metal sheet and screws. The design makes it easy to replace anything if that needs to be done. All the wiring is right at the top of the unit for easy access. #DIY #Bitcoin #Mining #Soundproof #Buidl #POW #LED #Lighting #Wiring
Coming back after a few months and trying to find my posts is tricky. Nostr is not ready for mainstream just yet.
