As adults, we seek validation in relationships, social approval, achievements — all (often imperfect) ways of responding to that same need. Indeed, the deepest belief we carry within us is: “I am loved, therefore I have worth.” → leads to security, openness, resilience. “I am not loved, therefore I have no worth.” → leads to insecurity, fear of rejection, and a desperate need for approval. This belief becomes like a root that shapes our thoughts, emotions, choices, and relationships. Being loved is not just an emotion, but a fundamental belief that molds identity. And unfortunately, a child’s mind can store the message “I am not worthy or deserving of love” even when they have present and caring parents.
