maybe my own information ecosystem perception is just wrong on threads
no wait i was just trying to figure out which churn rate you need starting with the assumption of currently equal DAUs. but 6% annual churn is ridiculously low for a microblogging platform, its much higher than that so these numbers are actually really good for threads it seems
so maybe 8% for threads is actually quite high in this context, once you factor in that twitter has incredibly high cultural saliency and threads having no cultural saliency
so im weaking my hypothesis that meta is doing some highly optimistic number counting, and im back to Threads mainly having an international nonwestern audience. which would also explain its low cultural impact on english speaking internet
