Yesterday's performance by Trump and Vance was not a display of power. It was a theatre for the crowd, underpinned by narcissism and helplessness. To be honest, it was quite pathetic.

I understand realpolitik and the transactional nature of international relations. Still, using an invasion and the threat of existential destruction to force a country to surrender half of its rare resources in exchange for protection is nothing but racketeering. It is morally reprehensible.
