The garden is finally winterized fully. The greenhouse was the last to get dealt with and now the garlic is all protected and fenced in. This year was a lot easier than other years given I had many of the rows already pulled and put away. I'm figuring next season will be a godd bit differenet than the prior as I ramp down production of most produce in favor of the garlic and potatoes. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog
Yesterday I tore out the tomatoes from the greenhouse then yanked the kale and chard. It's 24F this morning so today the rest of the farm will get winterized, a touch late but better than after snows. Thankfully it's only a few things to do to have it ready for winter. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog
The animals all dove into the grain as soon as I started shoveling it out of the trailer yesterday morning. The grain was super wet after the mass of rain fell on the barrels and then super heavy. Much of my day was spent trying to rest my damned body that keeps wanting to revert to pain... #homesteading #3dprinting #hive #peakd #dailyblog
One hell of a storm yesterday that dumped rain then after it passed gave us super killer clouds, just in time for the Trunk or Treat. It was a full day around the farm and I've finally started printing articulated toys which are coming out pretty damned cool. The dragon and snake are both really nifty and I can see why there are so many people printing them out. #homesteading #3dprinting #hive #peakd #dailyblog
The farm is prepped for the weather which managed to bypass us yesterday but looks to hit us in the next days. It's the yearly checklist of tasks that must get done before the snows begin to fall and this year I have much of the list doen early. Found my new Meccha, the new North 40 store has a House Of Fly fly fishing shop and they have a ton of badass tying supplies. I think I found my next rod/reel as well as I need a stiffer action for fishing bigger waters. #homesteading #flyfishing #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog
The maples are popping right now and the farm has areas of extreme yellow where they are gathered. The tunnel has such a cool look this time of year. The garden is almost finished with jsut a little bit left to deal with. The rain moves in today so I have my work cut out for me before it hits. #homesteading #fallcolors #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog
LOL!
The garden is gradually getting winterized with only a few rows left to deal with. Kale and chard can handle the frosts so are still looking super strong while hte beans rows need to be pulled. The peppers came out of hte freeze dryer perfect and need to get another batch going soon. At least my workload this year is much less than prior years. #homesteading #freezedrying #hive #peakd #dailyblog
Got quite the view for all of 5 minutes yesterday morning as the sun burned the fog off. The last remnants of the vapors were dissipating and I managed to just catch it. I don't see this that often and it is most often early spring or Fall time when the sun is at the right angle. #homesteading #sunrise #hive #peakd #dailyblog
A day of pain yesterday which I spent a good portion of the morning getting the new media server setup and Ubuntu fixed... Incorect repository links are a bit of a pain to flesh out and I know there are more I need to update. Maybe there is a way to flush them all and pull correct from the main source? Any way the boys got the freeze dryer going in the eveing with a load of pepper which will take a while since the peppers are all plump and full of moisture. #homesteading #freezedrying #food #hive #peakd #dailyblog
