Kent on Instagram: "This video was compiled using over 5,100 photographs from the Visible Human Project public dataset.
The faux-3D visualizations were created using composite 2D image data. The female donor was progressively sliced at 0.33mm intervals from head to toe and a photograph was taken at every step. The original photos feature the "slices" surrounded by a blue background (the color of the frozen gel used to stabilize the body in position).
I used a custom python interface to automatically remove the background of each image, using a masking technique that identified the borders around each sample and removed everything outside of that border. This left a tiny blue halo of remaining gel material around each isolated sample image.
Once the background was removed, I used another custom script to progressively stack the images. With over 5,100 images, the precision is high enough to give the appearance of a solid blue form when complete.
This gives a new perspective as the slideshow animation progresses. Seeing the form and shape of the whole "Visible Woman" while the individual slices are overlaid at 60fps really completes the feeling of taking a journey through the human body.
I feel this song by Dr. Octagon is fitting considering the theme of the album and the time period that it was released, 1996, around the same time this portion of the Visible Human Project came to an end.

Spending the last few months obsessed with his dataset has been really rewarding. Big thank you to everyone that has been following along with me ❤️🙏🙏🙏"
