Time traveller boost for Texas. I’m randomnly working through the back catalogue to learn things as they come up in my setup. Just learnt the difference between Snap and Flatpaks in eps 532, 501 and 499. It’s evergreen content, thanks for the work you put into creating these and the passion in the delivery. https://fountain.fm/episode/9gbeU3iOXO0ydFdKsq6R View quoted note →
Double boost for this and the episode with Oscar. Conversations with people like Oscar who are creating real use cases for Bitcoin are great. Is there a way to connect my LND node to Fountain? Can I do this with Alby hub? I’d love to connect directly and not have to manually top up my Fountain wallet if I could. Keep the signal coming, thanks. View quoted note →
have a great time at Linux Fest. Do you have any suggestions or old episodes to help new Linux users decide on distros as a daily driver? I’m not a total Linux newbie, have been running a couple of Ubuntu servers and Linux Mint on a laptop for over a year now, but want to set up a Linux desktop as a daily driver now. I’m looking at Pop OS for now, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks from New Zealand! View quoted note →
Re your question on which platform to do a Knots tutorial on, I would say it has to be Linux of some flavor. You’re the Linux guy so asking you to do it on another platform would be blasphemy! I was a Bitcoiner before getting into Linux and other open protocols. I really think Bitcoiners should embrace the full open source stack, it’s part of the trade off for having open source, immutable money. View quoted note →
This is a vote for some bonus content about running Knots. With the node count nearly at 20% and the Core team starting to play dirty, it’s time to really understand more about running Knots. A walk through guide and assessment from you on this would be super helpful. Thanks View quoted note →
About node setups and security: I started with a Raspiblitz about 3 years ago, this was a great first node if you want to learn the more technical side of running a node as it packages everything up and has a very simple GUI but also allows you to use the command line as well. It runs over Tor by default, so gives you that extra layer of privacy. Two years in I started running Bitcoin Core directly on an Ubuntu server, which in many ways is simpler than the Raspiblitz once you get used to doing everything in the command line. You’re running way less services, just what you need: Bitcoin Core, Fulcrum Server, Mempool.space and Tor. I went on to run a Lightning Node a year later and am still going strong, using that to route all my payments. Both my Bitcoin node and LND run over Tor, which for personal use (not routing on Lightning) has been good for me. I followed the guides on the Ministry of Nodes You Tube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@MinistryofNodes) , Ketan is a well known Aussie Bitcoiner and a big open source and Linux guy. His guides are excellent. Next step is to connect Alby Hub to my LND node, so I can route my own boosts on Fountain. View quoted note →
Thanks again for the solid signal. Wow, a lot of action in the comments this episode. I’ve tagged you in Nostr with some audio clips of the Tornado Cash and Samourai trials. The journals covering it are the Rage and Frank Corva from Bitcoin Magazine. Onwards. View quoted note →
Thanks for the signal and we’re glad you do what you do. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Samurai and Tornado Cash developer trials. These aren’t getting anywhere near as much coverage as the Treasury Companies and Stablecoin regulations but there are some concerning developments in these cases which could have effects on the development of all kinds of Bitcoin applications. I also saw a report on the Rage summarizing the privacy measures the White House are asking FinCEN to deem as money laundering concerns and they cover lots of general uses all of us would do regularly. Would love to hear your thoughts on these, considering your background in both Bitcoin and the FOSS space. Thanks. View quoted note →
DataMachine.ai down? hey @DETERMINISTIC OPTIMISM 🌞 Are there any issues with DataMachine.ai right now? It's been my go to AI for 18 months now and about a week ago it stopped working and I just get an error message saying: dataMachine Could not connect to LLM, please try again later. This happens on both Deepseek and Mixtral models. Can't find any numbers for your support line so posting here 😉
Thanks for covering this, I saw it on YouTube and then you covered it. Would love to see more bonus episodes. Biggest question I have now is how the hell do you cover all this as well as Linux Unplugged? View quoted note →
